31st Annual Spiritual Assembly at Immaculate Conception

The Archdiocese of Chicago was blessed to have the 31st Annual Chicago Association of the Holy Name Society Spiritual Assembly Mass and Procession of Banners celebrated on Friday evening June 10th. His Eminence Francis Cardinal George, OMI was our presider for the mass. This year the Immaculate Conception Holy Name Society and Parish (N. Talcott) were our most wonderful hosts. We had groups of men from many Chicagoland parishes. Let’s not forget participation from the Knights of St. Peter Claver, the Knights of Columbus and the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima. CAHNS thanks them all especially, Phil McGrath (Spiritual Assembly Chair), Paul Benson (President) and Fr. Eric Meyer (I.C. Pastor). Thank you to all the volunteers behind the scenes who made this a success! During the Mass, Fr. Michael Bowler (Spiritual Moderator for CAHNS) installed our new officers: Paul Setlak/Vice President, Stan Baran/Recording Secretary, Ed Bartoszek/Board of Director and Don Johnsson/Marshal. After the mass, all attendees were treated to a wonderful reception in the new Parish Center. The food was plenty along with homemade deserts. We had music by IC’s Disciples of Rhythm ensemble. During the reception, CAHNS held its drawing for the Annual Grand Raffle and selected the winners (names available next issue). Also CAHNS President John Ortiz presented the “2010 Deacon Ed Condon Chicago Association of the Holy Name Society Man of the Year Award” to Rev. Fr. John A. Jamnicky of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish in Antioch.

Next year’s Mass in 2012 will be hosted by the St. Cornelius Holy Name Society and Parish (Deacon Ed’s home parish) Chicago. Please pray for their success as they prepare to welcome you to their home.

If you’re interested in having your parish host this Mass in 2014 (2013 has been awarded) or beyond, please let one of our CAHNS officers know. We will be glad help you with any questions and planning.

Blessed Be His Holy Name!

- which the Holy Catholic Church - believes and teaches.

I promise to give good example - by the regular practice of my faith.

In honor of His Divine Name - I pledge myself against
perjury - blasphemy - profanity - and obscene speech.

I pledge my loyalty - to the flag of my country -and the God given principles of freedom, justice and happiness - for which it stands.

I pledge my support - to all lawful authority - both civil and religious.

I dedicate myself - to the honor of the Sacred Name of Jesus Christ - and beg that he will keep me faithful - to these pledges - until death.

AMEN.
