Prayer For A Moral Nation

O Heavenly Father, I know that the spirit of worldliness can creep into the Body of Christ very subtly, and before we know it, we can so easily be led astray. I pray You send Your Holy Spirit upon us, so that a moral, Christian voice can be heard and heeded by our leaders and the media. Cause us, as Christians, to become the standard bearers to such a degree that we can profoundly affect the morality of this nation. Turn our people's hearts to You. Open our eyes that we may see the error of our ways. Gather all Christians, Catholic and Protestant, together so that we form a united front against the wickedness and snares of the devil. Disarm the evildoers, leaving them powerless and not in control of our great nation. Inspire our media--television, newscasters, reporters, filmmakers, and celebrities--to promote a truly moral social justice and morally righteous entertainment and fashion. Be our strength when we are tempted to succumb to worldy things and ways. Help us to lead our lives all for the greater honor and glory of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

32nd Annual Spiritual Assembly at St Cornelius

We give glory and honor to our Lord Jesus Christ for allowing us to come together to praise him and to break bread together! We were blessed to have our friends and families along with the Holy Name Society at St. Cornelius on this beautiful evening in the Archdiocese of Chicago on June 15th 2012.

Many thanks to Fr. Richard Fragomeni and to all the priests and deacons this evening for helping us celebrate our Spiritual Assembly Mass this evening. Thanks go to the Knights of St. Peter Claver, the Knights of Columbus and the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima for being a part of our celebration. Thanks go to all of our Holy Name Society members from across the Archdiocese of Chicago who volunteered to help with the various parts of the mass and procession and made contributions. Thank you to the officers on the CAHNS Board of Directors. They have been very generous in giving their time and talents to the Holy Name Society at their home parishes and on the city-wide level as well. God Bless you guys!!!

Our most grateful thanks go to the men of the St Cornelius Holy Name Society and their parish for hosting our 32nd Annual Spiritual Assembly and Procession of Banners. Under the leadership of Tony Weyers and Pastor Fr.Daniel Fallon, you guys did a spectacular job!!!

The CAHNS Man of the Year Award for 2011 was presented to Joe D’Anna of the St Constance Holy Name Society. Congratulations Joe and God bless you for all that you do!

This evening we also honored Deacon Ed Condon of St. Cornelius.

The deacon is a man who is called to a ministry of service—a servant leader who animates others to live out a life of service. With priests and bishops, he receives the Sacrament of Holy Orders. He is an ordained clergyman living in the life style of the laity. Pope John Paul II said that, "the deacon is the Church's service sacramentalized. He is the visible sign of service to which all the baptized are called."

We are very grateful for the man we call “Deacon Ed” Condon. He is the Chicago Association of the Holy Name Societies Executive Secretary. He helped us found and charter our association back in the early 90’s. Deacon Ed was instrumental in the resurgence and the growth of the St Cornelius Holy Name Society. Our CAHNS “Man of the Year Award” is named in his honor. We would like to let you know that CAHNS has made a $500 donation in his honor to the “Institute for Diaconal Studies at the University of St Mary of the Lake in Mundelein. Thank You Deacon Ed! God Bless You!

Our CAHNS Raffle Drawing for 2012 was held and the winners were announced at the reception after the mass.

Next year’s mass will be hosted by the Five Holy Martyrs Holy Name Society with St Bruno’s Holy Name Society on the Southside in Chicago.

If you’re interested in having your parish host this Mass in 2014 or beyond, please let one of our CAHNS officers know. We will be glad help you with any questions and planning.

Blessed Be His Most Holy Name!
